Over the last eight years, CCBF has helped win policy changes that dramatically reduced the number of people incarcerated in Cook County Jail and been part of building a movement to end money bond across Illinois. In the first weeks of 2021, we and our partners in the Coalition to End Money Bond and Illinois Network for Pretrial Justice achieved a tremendous victory when the Pretrial Fairness Act was passed. Signed by the Governor on February 22, 2021, the Pretrial Fairness Act ended money bond in Illinois on September 18, 2023.

Chicago Community Bond Fund is no longer posting bond due to the full implementation of the Pretrial Fairness Act. While we are no longer running public programs, we are maintaining ourselves as a nonprofit in order to receive the remaining outstanding bond returns. Once all bonds have been collected or accounted for, we will shutdown our operations entirely. As we collect bond money back, we will be distributing funds to bond funds in other states, paying commissary and restitution for people currently incarcerated, and redistributing funds via a partnership with Crossroads Fund.

Your continued support enables us to process the remaining bond returns and redistribute funds to community members and organizations. Thank you for your continued commitment to pretrial freedom.
