This morning, Governor Rauner signed a bail reform bill. This is NOT the bill we have been consulting on since last summer. We repeat: SB 2034 IS NOT COMPREHENSIVE BAIL REFORM. It will not dramatically impact the population of Cook County Jail. While it has some positive elements that we welcome, it does not prevent judges from imposing money bond in any case before them.
