CCBF Supports J20 Protesters
Yesterday, CCBF posted $1,600 to free the only person held on bond following Friday’s inauguration protests. Just 24 hours after having bond set on his misdemeanor battery charge, the only #J20 protester sent to bond court was free from Cook County Jail. Previously, 14 other people arrested by Chicago Police and tracked by volunteers from the National Lawyers Guild Chicago were released without monetary bonds directly from police custody.
We are also grateful to the 15 people who, unasked, donated nearly $900 for the defense of protesters between Friday and Sunday. Your support helps us ensure people arrested at progressive actions and events in Chicago are bonded out as quickly as possible, hopefully making it less scary for people to come out and express dissent. Now more than ever, we must love and support each other.
