Yesterday, Chicago Community Bond Fund testified alongside representatives of Chicago Appleseed, Target Area Development Corporation, and Cook County Public Defender Amy Campanelli to defeat a last minute budget amendment that would have used money posted for bond to fill a gap in the public defender’s office budget. This amendment attempted to fund essential and constitutionally required government functions at the expense of Cook County’s poorest residents.
